If you are ordering rakı, this arrives first. If you are ordering something spicy, order this too.
What is haydari (garlic yogurt dip)?
Haydari is strained yogurt — thick enough to hold a spoon upright — beaten with garlic, fresh dill and mint. It is one of the pillars of the Turkish meze table, and its purpose is functional as much as culinary: it cools the palate between mouthfuls of chilli, charcoal and rakı. The straining is what separates it from ordinary yogurt with herbs in it; the texture should be dense and almost cheese-like.
How we prepare it at Anatolia Grill
We use thick strained yogurt, fresh dill and mint, and enough garlic to notice. Served cool with warm bread, 139 CZK. It is also one of the seven mezes on our Mixed Appetizers plate.
